THE HEPWORTH WAKEFIELD - ART POD

I designed family art activities for the Hepworth Wakefield’s Hurvin Anderson exhibition (May–October 2023), located in the Art Pod within the gallery. These activities invited visitors of all ages to connect with Anderson’s work in a hands-on way. The three activities were:

1. Magnetic Floor Collage: Visitors used digitally cut elements from Anderson's paintings, printed on magnetic sheets, to compose their own artwork on the gallery floor, reflecting Anderson's practice of reusing and re-composing imagery.

2. My Imaginary Self Portrait: Young visitors made self-portrait collages using salon-themed images like brushes and scissors, printed on peel-able sticker paper. This activity reflected Anderson's techniques of layering and tracing.

3. Posters on the Wall: Visitors created their own versions of Anderson's paintings using digitally cut imagery, printed on peel-able sticker paper, mirror card, felt and tape.
