LEEDS KIRKGATE MURAL
In 2019, Leeds Kirkgate Market commissioned me to create a mural that celebrates its rich heritage and vibrant culture—together with the people who know it best: its visitors.
At the heart of the mural is a majestic Wyvern dragon, a symbol of the market's identity and a nod to the mythical creatures hidden throughout its historic architecture. During half term, visitors of all ages roamed the market with clipboards in hand, sketching their own experiences. I then traced their drawings onto acetate, projected them onto the wall, and carefully transcribed them onto the mural.
The result? A Wyvern brought to life with hundreds of original, unedited sketches—a joyful tribute to community, creativity, and the power of drawing.
